FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RNK Telecom Chooses Performance Technologies’ SEGway™ 6200 Point Code Emulation™ Solution to Expand Service

Solution will be used to enhance switching capacity for VoIP and PSTN network in New York and New Jersey

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – July 19, 2006 - Performance Technologies (NASDAQ NM: PTIX), a leading developer of communication platforms and systems, today announced that RNK Telecom will use the company’s SEGway™ 6200 Mini-STP with enhanced Point Code Emulation™ (PCE) to enhance existing telephony services throughout the company’s Mid-Atlantic network, as well as expand its service area in New York and New Jersey.

A leading service provider of PSTN and VoIP telephony services in the tri-state metropolitan area, RNK’s combined presence in both New York and New Jersey accounts for a significant portion of the company’s total business. In addition, RNK has processed tens of millions of minutes of use for New Jersey through its switches in 2006 (to date).

“Over the past 18 months, RNK has recorded significant growth in our number of subscribers nationwide, as well as in the breadth and depth of our service offerings,” said Richard N. Koch, president and CEO for RNK. “Adding Performance Technologies’ Point Code Emulation solution puts us in an ideal position to best take advantage of VoIP’s continued consumer market penetration and to translate our existing momentum into new subscribers up and down the East Coast and throughout the country.”

Performance Technologies’ PCE solution is a routing feature on the company’s SEGway™ 6200 Mini-STP that offers simplified re-configuration and management of SS7 network elements. PCE establishes a virtual private SS7 network where network elements can be privately managed completely under the control of service providers such as RNK. To the public switched telephone network (PSTN), this private SS7 network and all nodes within it assume the identity of a single public point code.

PCE offers service providers like RNK the ability to address operational and financial challenges stemming from managing network churn. These challenges include uninterrupted migrating of traffic from legacy switches to new softswitches, the activation of additional softswitches to address growth requirements, managing the operational burden of growth and managing network expansion where point codes are a scarce resource.

“The challenge for service providers like RNK is to add new services without network interruption,” said Michael Skarzynski, president and CEO for Performance Technologies. “Point Code Emulation facilitates an efficient, low-risk and controlled traffic migration to RNK’s existing softswitch, allowing the company to accelerate the expansion of its customer base. Adding PCE enables RNK to cost-effectively manage its own network, something key to succeed in the competitive telecom market.”
